Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and the developer of Canvoz ("Canvoz", "we", "us") for the Canvoz mobile app and website (the "Service"). By downloading, accessing, or using Canvoz, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Canvoz.
1. Who may use Canvoz
Canvoz accounts are created and managed by adults (parents, caregivers, or educators). If you set up Canvoz for a child, you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or that you are an educator authorized to do so, and that you have the authority to provide the information you enter. You are responsible for supervising the child's use of the Service.
2. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
3. Subscriptions, billing, and the free tier
- The core communication features — the board grid, speech, page navigation, and editing — are free.
- AI features (board and vocabulary generation, the assistant, and photo analysis) require a paid subscription.
- Subscriptions are billed through your Apple App Store or Google Play account and auto-renew until cancelled. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Any free-trial or introductory offer, its length, and its price are shown before you subscribe. Prices and available plans may change; changes will not affect a period you have already paid for.
- If your subscription ends, your boards, pages, and editing remain available — only AI generation pauses.
- Except where required by law or the applicable app store's policies, payments are non-refundable. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
4. AI-generated content
Canvoz uses AI to suggest boards, vocabulary, and photo-based words. These suggestions are aids for you to review and edit — they may be imperfect and should always be reviewed by the caregiver before use. You are responsible for the content you choose to keep and use.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including: using it for unlawful purposes; attempting to access other users' data; interfering with or disrupting the Service; reverse engineering except as permitted by law; or attempting to bypass safety or usage limits. The Service is intended for personal, family, and educational communication use.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you create (boards, pages, cards, and the information you enter). You grant us a limited license to store and process that content solely to provide the Service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Privacy
Your use of Canvoz is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle information, including children's information and photos.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated suggestions will be accurate or appropriate for any particular child. Canvoz is not a substitute for professional medical, clinical, educational, or therapeutic judgment.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Canvoz and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from or related to your use of the Service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or twenty US dollars (US$20).
10. Termination
You may stop using Canvoz and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or its users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where a mandatory consumer-protection law of your place of residence applies.
13. Apple App Store — additional terms
If you download Canvoz from the Apple App Store, the following also apply: these Terms are between you and Canvoz only, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. In the event the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product-liability, legal/regulatory, or consumer-protection claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting," and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
